Our Privacy Pledge To Our Customers
Protecting your privacy is important to The Bank of Washington and our employees. We want you to understand what information we collect and how we use it. In order to provide our customers with a broad range of financial products and services as effectively and conveniently as possible, we use technology to manage and maintain customer information. The following policy serves as a standard for all employees of The Bank of Washington for collection, use, retention, and security of nonpublic personal information.
What Information We Collect
We may collect “nonpublic personal information” about you from the following sources:
- Information we receive from you on applications or other loan and account forms;
- Information about your transactions with us or with others; and
- Information we receive from third parties such as credit bureaus.
"Nonpublic personal information" is nonpublic information about you that we obtain in connection with providing a financial product or service to you. For example, nonpublic personal information includes information regarding your account balance, payment history, and overdraft history.
What Information We Disclose
We are permitted under law to disclose nonpublic personal information about you to other third parties in certain circumstances. For example, we may disclose nonpublic personal information about you to third parties to assist us in servicing your loan or account with us, to government entities in response to subpoenas, and to credit bureaus.
We may also share information with companies that perform services on our behalf (such as vendors who prepare monthly statements, process checks, provide online banking services, and provide support for one or more of our products or services). These business partners contractually agree to keep your information confidential and not use it for any other purpose. We do not disclose any nonpublic personal information about you to anyone, except as permitted by law.
The Bank of Washington will continue to adhere to the privacy policies and practices described in this notice, even after a customer were to close their account(s) or become an inactive customer.
Our Security Procedures
We also take steps to safeguard customer information. We restrict access to your personal and account information to those employees who need know that information to provide products and services to you. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal standards to guard your nonpublic personal information.
The Bank of Washington maintains security standards and procedures regarding unauthorized access to customer information that conforms to current regulatory and industry guidelines. We also ask you to closely review your account and loan statements and contact us right away if you believe that someone has improperly accessed financial information about you. In addition, we take appropriate measures to properly dispose of consumer information to address the risks associated with identity theft.
Maintaining the accuracy of your nonpublic personal information is very important. We have procedures to help assure that your personal information is accurate, current, and complete. We also have procedures to correct inaccurate information in a timely manner, including processes to update information ore remove outdated information. If you discover any information that we have about you that is incorrect, please let us know.
Periodically, our operations and business practices are reviewed for compliance with corporate policies and procedures governing the confidentiality of information. These reviews are conducted by internal staff that report directly to The Bank of Washington Board of Directors, external auditing and accounting firms and government regulators. Included in these self-assessments and examinations are reviews of the controls and safeguards related to consumer privacy described in our Privacy Policy.

Visitors to The Bank of Washington public web site remain anonymous, excluding those signing up for or onto on-line banking products. The Bank of Washington does not collect identifying information about visitors to our site. We use standard software to collect non-identifying information about visitors, such as:
- Date and time our site was accessed
- IP address (A numeric address given to servers connected to the Internet)
- Web browser used
The Bank of Washington uses this information to create summary statistics and to determine the level of interest in information available on our site.

Any personal information on customers applying for or using on-line banking products including bill pay is kept confidential as outlined previously under "What Information We Disclose."
